Vienna is not only home to the oldest German-speaking university; scholars in medicine and (criminal) law have also profoundly shaped the discourse on homosexuality in Europe.
In the Arkadenhof of the University of Vienna, we explore leading figures in the history of homosexuality and discover where the term "homosexuality" was coined.
Along Vienna’s Ringstrasse, we trace more recent queer history—from the fight against AIDS with the famous Life Ball to the establishment of rights for same-sex couples enshrined in the Austrian Parliament.
