Born in Sydney in 1954, Clapton started out as a jazz guitarist, playing in various local bands. By the late 1970s, he had moved into the pop-rock scene, releasing his debut album, Prussian Blue, in 1977. His second album, Goodbye Tiger (1978), was a huge hit, spawning the classic hit single “Girls on the Avenue”.
