Born on November 16, 1945, in Kerang, Victoria, John Williamson developed an early affinity for music and the Aussie outback. He released his first album, "John Williamson," in 1970, but it was his hit track "Old Man Emu," that catapulted him into the national spotlight, winning him the Golden Guitar at the Country Music Awards of Australia in 1970.
