To celebrate the upcoming International Women in Engineering Day, we have invited three leading women in our industry for a panel discussion on their career journeys.

Please join us to hear about their journeys including successes and challenges faced in the Building Industry and advice for those starting their career. You will also get a chance to ask them your questions with a Q&A and meet other engineers with networking to follow the panel.!

Our three panelists are leading individuals in the building industry from different organizations. They all share the same passion for their work and provide efficient and sustainable engineering solutions to all projects they participate in. You can find a brief introduction on each of the panelists that will be presenting and more information about their work below:

Preeti Chandak

Preeti Chandak is a Senior Sustainability Consultant at Northrop Consulting Engineers. A busy mom of two, Preeti understands the importance of creating a sustainable future for families and communities. Her passion lies in driving positive change within the building industry. Preeti advises and empowers building owners and developers to think critically about their carbon emissions. She inspires them to embrace carbon-neutral buildings as the new standard in responsible construction, leaving a lasting legacy of sustainable practices. Preeti specializes in Environmentally Sustainable Designs (ESD) for building projects, integrating them with climate objectives. Her experience spans various sectors, including community, commercial, education, aged care, and existing building performance. She is also an Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) consultant for various companies where she drives the ESG frameworks and objectives through advisory and policy inclusion, ensuring the companies operate in an environmentally and socially responsible manner.

Cynthia Farah

Cynthia is a senior mechanical engineer at LCI Consultants. She brings over 7 years of experience in mechanical services design for HVAC systems across multiple sectors including commercial, retail, education, residential and aged care projects.

Manasa Marasani

Manasa is a Senior Designer at Atelier Ten in Sydney passionate in embedding sustainability in the design of buildings and precincts. She has over 7 years of experience in sustainable building design, starting off as a mechanical engineer and quickly moving to building performance simulation and analysis. Manasa has experience working on large-scale projects with ambitious sustainability gaols with a key focus on HVAC design and operation, resilience planning and client management. She is also a chair of the Women at Surbana Jurong Commitee, leading initiatives enabling equity in the work environment and a board member of the International Building Performance Simulation Association (IBPSA).

About CIBSE Young Engineers Network (YEN)

CIBSE YEN provides a range of activities to inspire and support young engineers already in the industry and encourage interest from others outside the building services profession.

CIBSE has YEN chapters around Australia and New Zealand that organise technical and social events to support Young Professionals working within building services. They also engage with students at universities and other tertiary institutions to build awareness of the opportunities offered by a career in building services egnineering
