WUN TUN b2b BELLA COOL
Known for his diverse array of fast-paced, super-skilled Drum & Bass, halftime, and dubstep – Monty is an artist who needs little introduction. With releases on key labels such as Critical Music, Invisible and Flexout Audio, Monty represents 1985 Music – the cutting-edge label curated and nurtured by Alix Perez. His first release ‘Hold Me Back EP’ in 2017 led the way to a long and fruitful relationship with the imprint. After a string of genre-bending output, he released his debut album ‘Hit The Lights’ in 2021. A landmark release for the Toulouse-based producer and DJ, this long-form listen is a celebration of tempo diversity and underground bass. “A purveyor of the Toulouse sound, 1985 phenom, and supreme talent. Monty Brimley has quickly established himself to become all of the above – and this couldn’t be more evident than on his debut album, Hit The Lights.” UKF December 2021. Similar to his production style, Monty’s DJ sets are famously diverse, progressive, and high energy. Flowing through sub-genres smoothly and harmonically while taking the audience on a sonic journey through wonky halftime beats and rollers with the consistent theme of fun. Highlight performances include sets at Let It Roll, Outlook Festival, and Canada’s Shambhala Festival. As a pivotal artist in the underground dance scene, most weekends see Monty touring around Europe’s best clubs – with previous tours completed or penciled around Australia, New Zealand, North America, and beyond.

D-Grade:
Wingnut:
D-Grade and Wingnut meet in The Cave for their first ever all-nighter, pursuing the margins of dance music and navigating us through boisterous and emotive waves of sub-bass. As their joint project ‘Wings of D’sire’, they’ve appeared at the likes of Soft Centre Festival, Absorbed at Miscellania, and Minutiae Festival – often found during sunrises and sunsets. Their project is the sonic bi-product of many, many years of listening, dancing, and having fun to music together. They also put on ‘boof’, a semi-frequent (i.e. when they feel like it) DIY party series held on Gadigal land that is devoted to all things left of field.
Wingnut has a penchant for the nooks, crannies and margins of dance music. He splices screwball electronica, fleeting melodies and reckless drum programming with a dubwise sensibility - piecing together a murky psychedelia for the body and mind.
D-Grade likes frenetic, bossy and beautiful sounds. They’re partial to: a good baseline, gritty drums, a gloomy vocal or gaudy guitar riffs. They present ‘serious’ music with cheek, quirk and unpredictability.
