Bayside Clothes Swap

Bayside Clothes Swap
25 May 2024
SATURDAY
11 a.m.

As the glamour and anticipation of Australian Fashion Week 13 – 17 May 2024 sweeps across the nation, the thought of hot new fashion trends may have you thinking about updating your existing wardrobe.

But before you go running to the shops or logging onto your favourite retail fashion website, consider this sustainable alternative first. Clothes swaps are a great way to refresh your wardrobe, save money, and contribute to reducing textile waste – it’s a win-win-win.

How it works

Bring up to SIX items of clothing you value but no longer wear and exchange for those you’ll love to wear! When you check your clothes in you will receive buttons to use as currency once the swap opens. You can then take one item for each button you receive.

Please note, our organisers will need the room for 1 hour and 15 minutes to sort the clothes. Take advantage of this time to explore the local area, socialise with fellow fashion enthusiasts, or grab a coffee.

This event is offered to Bayside Council residents only, proof of address on arrival will be required.

Where

Join us at the Arncliffe Youth Centre, 9 Townsend Ln., Arncliffe NSW, for a swap session.

Timing

Check-in: 11:00am to 12:00pm

Swap: 12:15pm to 1:15pm

What you can bring:

Bring up to SIX items of clothing in excellent condition for any size, gender and age. Excellent condition means the clothing is clean, pressed and free from rips, holes, stains or major faults. Only bring items you would proudly give to a friend. Items could include:

  • Tops, shirts, blouses and jackets
  • Pants, jeans and shorts
  • Skirts, dresses and suits
  • Belts, bags and shoes
  • Scarves, ties and hats

Note: We do not accept anything pilled, pongy, marked or too far from perfect. We do not exchange undergarments, swimwear, tracksuits or cheap fast fashion.

All styles are accepted, provided they're in excellent condition – so keep in mind that items will range from on-trend pieces to older classics. And although we love receiving them, we can't guarantee everyone who brings a designer item will take home an equivalent piece.

What you can't bring:

Items are checked before being put out for the clothes swap. If your items are unsuitable, you may be asked to take them home. Unsuitable items include:

  • Jewellery and wigs
  • Underwear, socks and swimwear
  • Sportswear and activewear
  • Anything stained, torn or unclean
  • Noticeably worn out, shabby, pilling or frayed items

Parking at the venue is limited so we encourage carpooling and public transport. Arncliffe and Banksia train stations both conveniently located just a 10-minute walk away. Street parking options are available in surrounding streets including Hattersley Street and Tantalon Ave.

As spaces are limited, if you secure a ticket and cannot attend for any reason, please contact Council on 0429 395 084 or [email protected] as soon as possible so that Council can give the ticket to another resident. If this event is sold out and you wish to attend, please join the waiting list.

Please note that booking a ticket to this event, you are accepting the terms and conditions stated above.
