AOFM’s CEO Anna Hughes will reflect on the issuance of Australia’s inaugural Green Treasury Bond, lessons learned and the future of labelled issuance. Anna will provide her perspectives on the AOFM’s upcoming funding task and how the organisation will navigate through ongoing market turbulence.

Anna Hughes, Chief Executive Officer, Australian Office of Financial Management

Anna was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the AOFM in January 2023. She has extensive domestic and international experience across both the private and public sectors with her previous positions including Deputy Under Treasurer of the South Australian Department of Treasury and Finance and the CEO of the South Australian Government Financing Authority (SAFA). SAFA manages South Australia’s debt, liquidity and financial assets, and operates as the state’s captive insurer and fleet manager and also provides financial advice and administers hundreds of loans on behalf of the Treasurer.

Anna’s private sector experience includes twelve years with S&P Global Ratings as both an analyst and as an APAC Managing Director. Her asset class experience includes governments, financing vehicles, multi-lateral institutions, government-related corporate entities and non-bank financial institutions. An INSEAD Global Executive MBA graduate, Anna also has a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Resource Economics and a Science Master’s.
