Glide into celebrations for the bicentenary of the birth of “waltz king” Johann Strauss II with this sensational remix concert. A pop star of his time, Strauss’ 200th birthday party in his native Vienna will last all year. Starting with the city’s famous New Year’s Day concert, the festivities continue with performances of his much-loved dance and operetta music everywhere from the streets to the State Opera House. But there’s no need to fly to Austria to have a ball as Strauss fever is coming to Hong Kong!

A virtuoso of the art of recharging, reinterpretation and deconstruction, composer and electro-musician Wolfgang Mitterer—winner of the City of Vienna Music prize—has distilled, edited and reassembled some of Strauss’ most celebrated works and has given them a contemporary twist, creating joyous, witty and upbeat versions of his music.

This fabulous work will be conducted by Tim Anderson, whose recording with Klangforum Wien won the German Record Critics’ Award in 2024.
