Today’s supreme interpreters of Mozart and Bach, pianist-conductor András Schiff and his remarkable chamber orchestra, will honour these composers in two unmissable concerts. Hear some of Mozart’s best-loved music and six Bach keyboard concertos played to perfection.

Made for Mozart, born to play Bach

Classical superstar Sir András Schiff’s concerts are guaranteed highlights of any music festival programme. Few of the pianist and conductor’s contemporaries perform with such depth of knowledge and his obvious love for communicating the joy of music.

Hand-picked by Schiff for their exceptional skills, the soloists and chamber music virtuosi of his Cappella Andrea Barca first performed with him at the 1999 Mozartwoche in Salzburg, playing the composer’s complete piano concertos. Critics and audiences alike hailed the birth of an incomparable new orchestra and since then, its recordings and performances of Mozart, Bach, Beethoven, Schubert and other masters with Schiff have been acclaimed in concerts at all the major music centres of Europe and North America.

The first programme, devoted to Mozart, presents two of the composer’s best-loved piano concertos, his emotionally overwhelming G minor symphony and the famously dramatic Don Giovanni overture. Schiff says he starts each day by playing the music of Bach, and the second majestic all-Bach programme features six of the composer’s earliest works for keyboard and orchestra, some exuberant and sparkling, others deeply expressive, serene and moving.

Directed by Schiff from the piano, these concerts promise to be remarkable events, featuring an ensemble based on friendship, understanding and shared ideals—aesthetic, musical and human. Come and experience these programmes which pay tribute to the genius of two great composers.
