Prof Cesar Jung-Harada: International Ocean Stations

Prof Cesar Jung-Harada: International Ocean Stations
29 September 2024 11:30 a.m.

The ocean is where all life comes from and our future depends on it. Especially in the case of Singapore as an island city-state, sea-level rise and ocean health will have massive implications. In the Exhibition at ArtScience Museum, Cesar presents an imaginative vision of the future in which sea-levels have risen significantly, and we have adapted using ancient knowledge, innovative technology, and the imagination of children. In this talk and expanded Q&A, Cesar will present the exhibition materials, and discuss with the audience about potential futures for Singapore and a warmer world.

About Prof Cesar Jung-Harada:

ArtScientist-In-Residence Cesar Jung-Harada’s passion for ocean technology and impact innovation finds a home for education and experimentation at ArtScience Museum.

Cesar Jung-Harada is a Singapore-based French-Japanese designer, environmentalist, educator and entrepreneur. With ongoing research and development on renewable energy sources and environmentally sustainable sea transport, he regularly delivers workshops for organisations such as the World Wildlife Fund and National Geographic and has delivered keynotes at international conferences organised by the United Nations, Harvard University, and TED.

Through his practice, Cesar aims to empower all, especially the young, in putting creativity into action, to produce climate crisis solutions. He strongly believes in having art and science research be open source, for all to work collaboratively, building upon each other’s knowledge and experience, to turn sustainable futures into present reality.
