Nobu Shiraishi Quartet @ The Jazz Loft

Japanese double bassist, Nobu Shiraishi’s premier performance in Singapore as his group with great musicians, pianist Aya Sekine from Detroit, saxophonist Johan Liedberg, vocalist Midori Shiraishi playing his compositions, arrangement of jazz standards and Japanese folksong.

Born in Japan in 1983, Nobu Shiraishi started in piano at the age of three, composition at 16 and double bass at 20 in a jazz club. Not just a double bassist, he also performs on the piano and composes songs with influences from jazz, improvisation, pops, folksongs, rock, Butoh and his experiences of three years living in Belgium. In 2023, Nobu performed at the Detroit Jazz Festival with Osaka-based band, Khamsin and released an original album with the group in 2024.
