Join us for a fascinating exploration of Western missionaries in Qing Dynasty. The talk will delve into the intriguing interactions between missionaries and Chinese society, during one of China's most dynamic historical periods. From early Jesuit missions to later Protestant missions, notable missionaries from various Christian denominations played significant roles in cultural and scientific exchanges between East and West. Discover how various missionary groups navigated the Qing Dynasty's complex political and cultural landscapes, their contributions to educational and scientific progress, and the impact of their work on East and West perceptions of each other. We will also explore the world view of Qing Dynasty China and how this shaped their understanding and engagement with missionaries.
