SYNOPSIS:

We gather to celebrate the life and legacy of Krishnamurthy Sir, an extraordinary Mridangam teacher whose impact resonates deeply within us all. Renowned for his spontaneous teaching and innovative approach, Krishnamurthy Sir organized numerous programs worldwide, captivating audiences with his creativity.

Krishnamurthy Sir taught us much about life. He showed us the value of perseverance and excellence through his unwavering determination and skill. He also believed in the power of sharing the stage, insisting that his students perform alongside him. This belief offered many the opportunity to play instruments like the kanjira and ghatam, providing invaluable exposure and a diverse range of experiences.

Today, we honor Krishnamurthy Sir, just as he once celebrated his students. This tribute performance serves as a homage to our revered guru and we invite everyone to join in celebrating the remarkable legacy of Krishnamurthy Sir, whose influence continues to inspire us all.

The event is organized by the students of Sri Karaikudi R Krishnamurthy, with a live orchestra and vocals by Tiruvaarur S Girish. The production is a collaborative effort in collaboration with Bharathaa Arts, Darshan Fine Arts, and Omkar Arts.

With a stage debut that began at the tender age of 12, his first performance alongside the legendary G.N. Balasubramaniam marked the start of a lifelong journey in music.
Renowned for his dynamic teaching style and innovative methodologies, Krishnamurthy Sir has orchestrated numerous programmes across the globe, captivating audiences with his creativity. His deep commitment to his art has driven him to passionately nurture the next generation of musicians.
Krishnamurthy Sir’s teaching philosophy emphasises the belief that true artistic excellence is achieved through collective ensemble harmony rather than individual accolades. His commitment to education has seen him mentor countless students across the globe—from India to Singapore to the United Kingdom—offering them opportunities and invaluable exposure to play instruments including the kanjira and ghatam. Tiruvaarur S Girish

Tiruvaarur S. Girish is a prominent Carnatic vocalist from the esteemed Dhannamal family of Tanjore, a lineage celebrated for its pivotal role in shaping Carnatic music over the past 250 years. He started singing at the age of four under the tutelage of his grandmother, Sangeetha Kalanidhi T. Brinda. He has acquired an extensive repertoire of Padams and Jhavalis, featuring rare compositions seldom heard elsewhere. Girishhasgained international recognition through his performances across major cultural venues around the world and has been honored with several awards for his musical prowess.
Girish, through his Brinda Repertory School of Music and Traditional Heritage, has trained disciples globally, organized music festivals, and honored senior musicians and Sabhas in Tamil Nadu for their contributions to promote music. His foundation, The Brinda Repertory Trust, promotes classical music in rural Tamil Nadu by providing scholarships, musical instruments, and free tutelage to deserving and underprivileged students.
