Event Fees

Group 1 (Age 7-15): $90 per child
Group 2 (Age 3-6): $80 per parent-child pair ($20 for additional adult/child)

Welcome to our special Children's Day "Exploring Anxiety Inside Out" workshop inspired by the movie "Inside Out 2"! Embark on an exciting adventure to discover the colourful world of our emotions, with a special focus on understanding and managing anxiety. We will immerse ourselves in the world of emotions through therapeutic play and drama techniques, incorporating body movements to help children understand and manage anxious feelings in an engaging and safe space.

Objective:

The workshop aims to help your child understand and manage the emotion of anxiety through therapeutic play and drama techniques, using body movements to express and navigate their feelings, and learning positive coping strategies to manage their anxious feelings.

Learning Outcomes:

At the end of the workshop, your child should be able to:

•⁠ ⁠have a basic understanding of the biological basis and purpose of anxiety, and how it might affect someone’s thoughts, feelings, body, and behaviour
•⁠ ⁠discuss anxious feelings using a range of words to describe feelings related to anxiety.
•⁠ ⁠use a range of strategies and coping skills to help manage anxious feelings, and to consider which might work best in different situations.

Activities:
1. positive coping strategies to manage their anxious feelings
2. ⁠therapeutic play and drama techniques
3. ⁠body movements to express and navigate their feelingsWhat they will do in class:

1.⁠ ⁠Playing Emotions Charades to act out and explore different emotions (including anxiety).
2.⁠ ⁠Drawing a self-portrait as we explore the emotion of anxiety and how it affects us in the body.
3.⁠ ⁠Role-playing activities to depict scenarios to recognize our triggers, respond to our emotions and find healthy ways to cope with anxiety.
4.⁠ ⁠Closing Activity: “Memory Orb Circle” children share one positive memory or experience that makes them feel better when they are anxious, and one positive thing they will do to manage their anxiety after the workshop.

‍GROUP 2: Age 3–6 (Parent-Accompanied)
Friday, 5 October, 4pm–5.30pm (1.5 hours)‍Objective:

The workshop is designed to provide parents and children aged 3 to 6 years old with the tools and strategies to recognise and manage anxiety through therapeutic play. It aims to create a supportive and interactive environment where you and your child can learn together and develop essential coping skills and regulation techniques through play-based activities.

Activities:

1.⁠ ⁠Understanding Anxiety (identifying and understanding common anxiety triggers and physical sensations associated with anxiety through interactive storytelling or play-based activities)

2.⁠ ⁠Coping Strategies and Regulation Techniques (you and your child will learn age-appropriate coping strategies and regulation techniques for managing anxiety such as labelling emotions, validation of feelings, deep breathing exercises through parent-child play-based activities)

This booking is not applicable for cancellation or refund unless Mindful Space cannot commence or proceed with the activity.
