“Intensely soulful… virtuoso” – The New York Times, USA– The New York Times, USA
The Syrian-born clarinettist and composer Kinan Azmeh is internationally acclaimed for his distinctive voice that blends Arabic and Western influences. He has performed in many of the world’s major concert halls such as the Bastille Opera House in Paris, Berliner Philharmonie and at the United Nations General Assembly. He is also a core member of Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Ensemble.
In this concert, Azmeh will present four compositions of different styles with percussionist John Hadfield and five emerging local musicians. The music melds influences from all over the world, expressing emotions that are universally shared such as nostalgia, the meaning of art and joy in daily life.
