Christine Climent‘s Solo Exhibition in Hong Kong

Christine Climent‘s Solo Exhibition in Hong Kong

As part of the French May Arts Festival 2025!

We are excited to announce the upcoming first solo exhibition in Hong Kong of acclaimed French contemporary artist Christine Climent, opening on May 10, 2025, at Ubu Deco Gallery. This exhibition, part of the French May Arts Festival program, will showcase a captivating series of 20 pieces in total, sketches, and suspended canvases that intricately blend engraving work with painting and detailed ink elements, exploring the concept of shared urbanism and drawing inspiration from both Paris and Hong Kong. The exhibition will run until May 17, 2025.

In this series of paintings, Christine Climent illuminates a shared urbanism that is deeply rooted in her personal history. She believes that "whether in Paris or Hong Kong, each color or rhythm conveys a common human story. The streets transform into living canvases, pulsating with emotions and weaving a rich and diverse urban tapestry." Her work reflects the vibrancy of human density through compositions of architecture, urban transport, and cultural references.

A key highlight will be the unique participatory project in which Christine collaborates with Leon Lai, known as LeonLollipop, on a dynamic large-scale piece. Throughout the exhibition's duration, visitors will be invited to engage directly with the art by contributing stamped elements to the 3.1x1.1m canvas. This initiative fosters dialogue about cultural exchange and encourages reflection on personal experiences related to both French and Hong Kong cultures. Additionally, segments of the canvas will be available for public sale, with a portion of the profits donated to the charity Feeding HK.

Christine's exhibition embodies the festival's spirit, honoring the vibrant artistic legacy of French culture while showcasing the growing connections and exchanges between Hong Kong and France.

Two Moons, Hong Kong’s first gin distillery, will elevate the opening party by sponsoring their exclusive pre-mixed cocktails, crafted in collaboration with the renowned pop singer Serrini. Two Moons reflects the spirit of local craftsmanship and the belief that inspiration can arise in any moment and from anywhere.
