ABOUT EMERITUS PROFESSOR EDWARD HO
Born in Hong Kong, Professor Edward Ho obtained the LRSM in Piano Performance
at the age of 17. Upon graduating in Geography & Geology from the Hong Kong
University, he moved to England on a scholarship to study music at Trinity College of
Music and the Royal School of Church Music. It was at Trinity that another
scholarship enabled him to study music for the BMus at Durham University, which
was duly completed within an incredibly short time of eighteen months of study. The
MMus and the prestigious award in 1975 of the higher doctorate of DMus inevitably
followed. Emeritus Prof Ho’s expertise and versatility have made him a well sought-
after teacher and mentor in performance and theoretical studies. During his time in
Kingston University, he was also a member of the Music Board under the former
Council for National Academic Awards. He had been an ABRSM examiner for 20
years and has examined many times in Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong. Prof
Ho now lives in London and divides his time between private teaching both face-to-
face and online, public lecturing, consultation, and video recording of music courses
for China.
