Between 21 March and 21 April 2025, join us in the Art Park for Pollinator – a live artist residency and experimental performance initiative by US artist duo, and acclaimed pioneers of “performance architecture”, Alex Schweder and Ward Shelley.
For five weeks, Pollinator – a set of multiple structures connected by a giant wheel – will become the temporary home for a community of artists. Among the residents will be co-creators Alex Schweder and Ward Shelley, along with Hong Kong-based performing artists and visual artists.
During this time, alternating groups of artists will live, eat, work and relax in their individual pods. To interact with each other, or move between the structures, residents will travel by means of the interconnecting transportation wheel, powered solely by human effort.
Throughout each residency period, artists will be dependent on each other for food, problem solving and socialising, and support each other through creative collaboration and exchange. At scheduled periods, artists will also share work, perform or interact with viewers and visitors to the Art Park.
Pollinator is commissioned by WestK and co-presented by WestK Performing Arts and M+.
