AeReA examines the flag as an object of imagination and symbolic power and its connections with the corporeal body.
Stripped of traditional insignias, the silver-grey flags wielded by the performers transform into spectral figures, blurring the lines between banners and shrouds. The title, AeReA, derived from the Latin words โaraโ (altar) and โaereaโ (air), underscores the duality of the flag as an object that has always functioned in principle to express ideas of unity and separation. With sound design by Demetrio Castellucci, AeReA provokes reflection on historical and contemporary notions of power and belonging.
AeRea was the winning project of the 2019 edition of the Premio Hermรจs Danza Triennale Milano.
Presented in collaboration with contยทact Contemporary Dance Festival as a programme of ArtScience Museum's Mind and Body: The Art and Science of Being Human season, an exploration of what it means to think, feel and exist as human beings.

Ginevra Panzetti and Enrico Ticconi, based in Berlin and Torino, have been working as a duo since 2008. Their artistic research interlaces dance, performance and visual art to explore themes related to the historical union between communication and power. Both graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome and attended Stoaฬ, School for rhythmic movement and philosophy in Cesena, led by Claudia Castellucci.
In 2010 they moved to Germany and delved into individual, but mutually complementary paths: Ginevra studied Media Art at the Hochschule fuฬr Grafik und Buchkunst (HGB) in Leipzig and Enrico Dance, Context, Choreography at the Inter-University Centre for Dance (HZT) in Berlin. They gained international recognition with their choreographic work Harleking (2018) that, among some of the most important international festivals, has been presented at the European platform Aerowavers Twenty 19, the New Italian Dance (NID) Platform and by Tanzplatform Deutschland 2020. In 2019 they won the 13th Arte Laguna Prize for the site-specific performance Jardin/Arsenale, they received the Danza&Danza Prize as emerging choreographers and were nominated โPromising Talent of the Yearโ by the Jahrbuch Tanz.

Contยทact Contemporary Dance Festival marks a milestone 15th edition with Paths That Bind Us, a festival-long reflection on the relationships, collaborations and artistic journeys that have shaped its legacy. Running from 13โ29 June 2025, this landmark edition, presented by The Human Expression (T.H.E) Dance Company, honours the festivalโs enduring role in promoting contemporary dance in Singapore, deepening international partnerships, and making the art form more accessible to diverse audiences.
Having started out as a simple week of dance events in 2010, contยทact Contemporary Dance Festival has evolved into an annual celebration that bridges local and global dance communities. contยทactโmeaning "continued act"โencapsulates the festival's enduring commitment to nurturing the contemporary dance landscape through celebrating diverse voices from around the world, embracing cultural differences, and uplifting emerging artists and arts thinkers across borders. Echoing the gesture of touch, or contact, contยทact celebrates dance as a universal force that transcends boundaries, bridges perspectives and experiences, and touches hearts and minds across cultures.
