Yo La Tengo is an American indie rock band formed in Hoboken, New Jersey in 1984. The band is composed of Ira Kaplan (guitar, vocals), Georgia Hubley (drums, vocals), and James McNew (bass, vocals). The band first gained attention in the early 1990s with their album Fakebook, which contained covers and reworked versions of their own material as well as songs by other artists. Since then, they have released a number of albums and EPs, including the critically acclaimed I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One (1997) and And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside-Out (2000).
