When it comes to progressive rock, few bands have made as much of an impact as Mother’s Cake. Formed in 2012, the Austrian quintet has quickly established themselves as one of the most energetic and unique acts in the genre.
Combining elements of classic and modern rock, as well as blues, funk, and jazz, Mother’s Cake creates a sound that is both melodic and hard-hitting. The band is fronted by vocalist and guitarist Christian “Tru” Trummer, whose soulful voice is complimented by the intricate guitar work of Andreas “Andi” Fulterer. The rhythm section of drummer Wolfgang “Wolf” Seidl and bassist Patrick “Paddy” Fulterer lay down a heavy groove that is truly infectious.
Since their formation, Mother’s Cake has released three albums, The Big Picture (2013), No Rhyme No Reason (2015), and Deep in the Woods (2017). Each album is packed with memorable hooks and riffs, as well as thoughtful lyrics that explore the trials and tribulations of life. In addition to their studio releases, Mother’s Cake has also toured extensively, performing at festivals such as Roskilde, Nova Rock, and Sziget.
Whether you’re a fan of progressive rock or just looking for a great live show, Mother’s Cake is a must see. Catch them on tour or listen to their albums to experience their unique sound. You won’t be disappointed!
