Masaya Kamei ”亀井聖矢" was brought to worldwide attention in 2022 at the Long-Thibaud International Competition in France where he won First Prize and Audience Award. Also, he won the third prize at the Maria Canals International Piano Competition and became a semifinalist at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2022. He gained recognition in Japan when he won First Prize at the 43rd PTNA Piano Competition and the 88th Music Competition of Japan at the same time in 2019.
His orchestral collaborations include NHK Symphony Orchestra, Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra, Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, Osaka Symphony Orchestra, Kansai Philharmonic Orchestra, Kyoto Symphony Orchestra, Central Aichi Symphony Orchestra, and Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra.
Born in 2001, he started learning the piano at the age of four and has studied with Mayuko Aoki, Hideo Sugiura, Hisako Ueno, Michiko Okamoto, and Shoichi Hase. While studying at Meiwa High School, he admitted for early admission entrance program at Toho Gakuen School of Music where he completed his undergraduate study with the highest honors in 2023. He has received exceptional scholarships such as Ezoe Memorial Recruit Foundation, Rohm Music Foundation, and Yasuko Fukuda Award. He currently studies with Momo Kodama at University of Karlsruhe Music in Germany.
