Formed in 1994, the group originally consisted of lead vocalist Adam Levine, keyboardist Jesse Carmichael, bassist Mickey Madden, lead guitarist James Valentine, drummer Ryan Dusick, and rhythm guitarist Matt Flynn. The band's debut album, Songs About Jane, was released in 2002 and was met with worldwide commercial success, spawning the hits "Harder to Breathe," "This Love," and "She Will Be Loved."
