Jim Sclavunos

Jim Sclavunos is a multi-instrumentalist and composer who has been a major influence in the rock and pop music scenes for more than four decades. He is best known for his work as a drummer and percussionist with the bands Grinderman, The Bad Seeds, and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds. He has also collaborated with a number of other renowned acts, including Tom Waits, U2, PJ Harvey, and Primal Scream.

Born in the United States in 1956, Jim Sclavunos started his musical career as a teenager, playing drums in a variety of punk and rock bands. He eventually moved to London in the late 1970s, where he became a sought-after session musician. His big break came in 1984 when he joined the Australian band Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds. His distinctive and creative drumming style helped shape their sound and was a major factor in their success.

Since then, Jim Sclavunos has continued to work with Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, as well as performing and recording with a host of other artists. His solo projects include the albums “Bacchanalia” and “Sonic Dances”, which showcase his eclectic musical range.
