Andrew McMahon

MUSICIAN
Andrew McMahon is a prominent American musician, singer-songwriter and pianist, who has been a staple in the alternative and pop-punk music scene for more than two decades, leaving an indelible mark on the music industry with his unique sound and style.

Born on September 3, 1982, in Concord, Massachusetts, McMahon grew up in a musical family, with both his parents being professional pianists. He began playing the piano at an early age, and by the time he was in high school, he had formed his first band, called Something Corporate.

Something Corporate was a pop-punk band that gained popularity in the early 2000s with their upbeat and catchy songs. McMahon was the lead vocalist and pianist, and his emotive and confessional lyrics struck a chord with the listeners. They released three albums, "Leaving Through the Window," "North," and "Played in Space: The Best of Something Corporate."

In 2005, McMahon went on to form another successful musical project, called Jack's Mannequin. It was a more personal and introspective project, as McMahon was dealing with a difficult and life-threatening diagnosis of leukemia at the time. The band released two albums, "Everything in Transit" and "The Glass Passenger," showcasing McMahon's evolution as a songwriter and performer.

After the hiatus of Jack's Mannequin in 2012, McMahon began a new chapter in his career with a solo project, called Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness. He released his first eponymous album in 2014, which debuted at number 37 on the Billboard 200. The album was a departure from McMahon's previous work, incorporating electronic and synthesizer sounds into his music.

Since then, McMahon has released three more albums under Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness, including "Zombies on Broadway," "Upside Down Flowers," and "The Three Pianos EP." His music has evolved and matured with each release, incorporating new sounds and experimenting with different genres.

McMahon's music has been featured in several movies, TV shows, and commercials, and he has toured extensively, both as a headliner and with other artists like Panic! At the Disco and Weezer. He is known for his energetic and entertaining live performances, often jumping on his piano and engaging with the crowd.

In addition to his music career, McMahon is also known for his philanthropic work, particularly his support for cancer research and advocacy. He founded the Dear Jack Foundation in 2006, which helps raise awareness and funds for cancer research and survivorship programs.

With over two decades in the music industry, Andrew McMahon has established himself as a versatile and talented musician, with a unique style and sound that resonates with fans all over the world. His music is upbeat, emotional, and relatable, and his live performances are a testament to his passion and love for his craft.
