About this event
Renowned author, journalist, and travel writer Pico Iyer opens a new season of Trinity Talks with a discussion of his recent book, The Half Known Life: In Search of Paradise. Drawing on a lifetime of global exploration, Iyer examines competing definitions of paradise to ask how we can find peace in an ever more divided and distracted world — even amidst difficulty and suffering.
The author of 15 books that have been translated into 23 languages, Iyer is also a regular essayist for Time, The New York Times, Harper’s, National Geographic, Condé Nast Traveler, and more than 250 other periodicals worldwide.
Doors open at 12:30 p.m. with light refreshments available. There will be a book signing before the talk and an opportunity for small group discussions afterward.
About Trinity Talks
Throughout the year, Trinity Church hosts events at the intersection of sacred and civic life. Trinity Talks educate, inform, and inspire – providing in-person opportunities to engage with writers, artists, and thinkers who deepen our understanding on issues of faith, social justice, and community.
Our 2024-2025 season focuses on themes of conflict and peacemaking: In a society that feels irreparably fractured, how can we work together toward peace? Five distinguished writers help us answer that question—and provide a roadmap for holding on to hope in trying times.
