3rd Annual "A Mile in Their Shoes" Walk/Run/Roll & Family Festival 4DVAM

Join us for the 3rd Annual "A Mile in Their Shoes" Domestic Violence Walk/Run/Roll & Family Festival!

Join us for a lap around the lake to raise awareness and come together as a community to take a stand against domestic violence on Staten Island. Whether you prefer walking, running, or rolling, there’s a place for you in this important event. Our Family Festival will feature food, games, and fun that can be enjoyed by all ages. Best of all, this event is free and open to the public.

Domestic and Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) accounts for a staggering 20% of all major crime and nearly 50% of felony assaults on Staten Island, a little-known fact in our bedroom community. This type of violence thrives in secrecy and often occurs behind closed doors causing families to suffer in silence. We can break the cycle by raising awareness while providing a safe and fun environment for families to make memories!

We have also partnered with a handful of local service providers to provide free information, services, and referrals. And, now in its second year, our “New Beginnings Boutique” will be fully stocked with gently used clothing and essential personal hygiene products.

Attendees will also have the chance to hear survivors of domestic violence briefly share their personal stories, fostering a deeper understanding of the challenges many in our community face.

Help us honor the lives of those lost to domestic violence by bringing a photo of your loved one to be placed on our Memory Wall. Your tribute will become part of a collective space of remembrance, offering strength and solidarity to all who attend.

Domestic violence is a pervasive issue that affects individuals and families across all communities. This event is designed to raise awareness, offer support, and connect survivors with valuable resources. Whether someone is seeking safety, financial assistance, or personal empowerment, this is an opportunity to take that first step.
