This event will accelerate knowledge of polysubstance use (i.e., the use of two or more substances) by bringing together an interdisciplinary group of stakeholders, researchers, community organizations, and community members with an emphasis on opportunities for early career, underrepresented researchers, and persons with lived and living experience.
Content of the symposium spans four key domains:
• Prevalence, emerging trends, unintentional polysubstance use (epidemiology, overdose, toxicology/autopsy data, impacts of a contaminated drug supply)
• Treatment, harm reduction, and policy (pharmacologic or behavioral, community driven harm reduction, and policy changes)
• Social determinants (vulnerable populations, demographics, psychosocial drivers)
• Methods for polysubstance use (challenges, innovative methodological techniques)
