Join us for Open Studios: Winter in the City and discover the many ways glass shapes the world around us with an afternoon of art making and exciting demonstrations in UrbanGlass’ 17,000 sq ft studios. Sign up for one activity or try them all!

Bead Project Market — FREE: Celebrate local artists and shop stunning handmade jewelry created by alumni of The Bead Project scholarship program at UrbanGlass.

1 1 AM - 3 PM

Demonstrations — FREE: Watch professional glassblowers sculpt with molten glass, and see how borosilicate glass (the hi-temp glass used in science labs and pyrex bakeware) can be melted and shaped in the flame of a table torch.

11 AM - 3 PM

Bead Stringing, Upcycled Bud Vase & Screen Printing — FREE: String colorful beads into a wearable creation, cut vinyl stencils to sandblast onto a glass bottle that plays on shiny and frosted textures, or bring a shirt to screen print with a mystery design (drop-in, all ages with chaperone).

1 1 AM - 3 PM

Glassblowing Ornament — $75: Play with molten glass and learn how to make a colorful blown ornament for your holiday decorations. One-on-one lesson, 30 minutes (ages 12+).

Objects made during the lesson must cool slowly overnight, so please plan to return the following week for pickup.

Sessions run every half hour, at 11 AM, 11:30 AM, 12 PM, 12:30 PM, 1 PM, 1:30 PM, 2 PM, 2:30 PM

Beadmaking — $45: Melt colorful glass rods in the flame of a table torch to create your very own wearable beads. One-on-one lesson (ages 12+), 30 minutes. 

Objects made during the lesson must cool slowly overnight, so please plan to return the following week for pickup, or contact us to arrange shipping.

Sessions run every 45 minutes, at 11 AM, 11:45AM, 12:30 AM, 1:15 PM, 2 PM

Fused Ornament — $35: Design a picture or pattern and layer pieces of sheet glass into a colorful ornament or coaster that will get melted together in the kiln. Group lesson, 30 minutes (all ages with chaperone).

Objects made during the lesson must cool slowly overnight, so please plan to return the following week for pickup.
