Two ensembles at the top of their craft — Downtown Voices and the chamber chorus Amor Artis — will showcase the extraordinary range of choral expression as they tackle a set of monumental works. Frank Martin’s Mass for Double Choir, a deeply spiritual and intricate composition, weaves together rich harmonies that reflect both modern and ancient traditions. The awe-inspiring Renaissance choral piece Spem in Alium, a 40-part motet by Thomas Tallis, surrounds audiences with waves of sound. And Orazio Benevoli’s Missa Tu Es Petrus (for four choirs) will fill every inch of the performance space with its opulent Baroque textures and counterpoint. Directed by Ryan Brandau and Stephen Sands.
