Losers Cirque Company: The Audition

In The Audition, the audience observes human competitiveness and the obsession with victory, as well as the personal and physical boundaries people are willing to cross to succeed. What is the true cost of success? Is victory enviable?

The show centers around an open competition for an undefined job, where the goals and requirements are unknown. Participants must therefore showcase all their talents, capture attention, and strive to be the best. From the moment their identities are reduced to mere reference numbers, they become rivals. However, shared experiences ultimately transform their relationships.

A key element in creating the atmosphere of uncertainty and nervousness is the character of the judge. Acting as a puppet master, the judge exploits his position to assert his dominance over the applicants. He provokes them to test their physical, psychological, and moral limits, awakening the darker sides of their personalities. In an environment devoid of clear rules, applicants begin to question whether they can achieve success through fair play.

The show utilizes acrobatics, dance, and music as its primary means of expression, with drama, singing, and juggling playing a lesser role. Duct tape serves as a significant visual element, used to define movement spaces for acrobats, or as a tool to immobilize or guide.

The audience also becomes an integral part of the audition process. Some audience members participate directly by completing various tasks, while all attendees ultimately take on the role of judges, responsible for deciding the final winner.
