Leaving No One Behind: A Digital Path Toward Counting Everyone

Leaving No One Behind: A Digital Path Toward Counting Everyone
19 September 2024 5 p.m.

With one in four births and about 40% of deaths worldwide still unregistered, too many people remain invisible. Join us for our next

In the 21st century, rights, services and protections will be increasingly difficult to obtain without a legal identity and the means to prove it. With the United Nations mandate to record every birth and death in the entire population, digitalized civil registration and vital statistics (CRVS) systems must be at the foundation of tomorrow’s digital public infrastructure.

Outdated paper-based systems are slow, expensive, error-prone and difficult to manage. Digitalizing CRVS systems can transform this process, making timely registration of births and deaths more cost efficient and beneficial for everyone. For example, national IDs can help farmers secure loans, and access to current health data enables policymakers to set priorities and allocate resources.

Join us for our next ">span> ahead of the United Nations Summit of the Future to explore the urgent need for a rapid scale-up of digitalized CRVS systems. These systems can increase access to benefits for more people, provide governments with timely data on public health priorities, contribute toward the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals and work toward a future where no one is left behind.
