HMU x Open Social: Developing Non-Monogamous Relationship Agreements

HMU x Open Social: Developing Non-Monogamous Relationship Agreements
1 October 2024
TUESDAY
7 p.m.

This workshop is open to anyone interested in non-monogamy; partners are not required for participation!

About the Event

Whether you’re exploring sexual connections, kink dynamics, or full-blown intimate partnerships, non-monogamy creates exciting opportunities not accessible in traditional relationships. It also comes with challenges: considering the needs and desires of multiple people simultaneously is no easy task. How do you balance the need for security with the need for privacy and autonomy? What if exploring shared desires with one connection conflicts with the boundaries of another?

This workshop is designed for anyone practicing non-monogamy who is interested in establishing a set of guidelines or “agreements” with existing partners that can be used as a roadmap while you navigate new experiences.

Using a questionnaire, we’ll identify each partner’s individual intentions, needs, and desires. From these, we’ll develop a set of agreements that allow each partner to have many of their needs and desires met, while respecting and honoring their partner’s boundaries.

We’ll address common pitfalls and demonstrate effective communication strategies for working through conflicts as they arise. We'll also review strategies for finding new non-monogamous connections that align with the agreements you’ve established with your existing partners.

The workshop will be followed by a mixer to give all our lovely participants an opportunity to connect with other like-minded non-monogamous individuals who wish to explore new connections with intention and consideration.

Participants will walk away with copies of the relationship agreements questionnaire and the non-escalator relationship menu. All attendees will also receive coupons for non-monogamy coaching sessions with your facilitator, Alissa Silverstein, LCSW at an exclusive rate of $125 per session (over 50% discount) with ALL proceeds going to Open Social. This workshop is offered during Open Social’s October fundraising month and 50% of proceeds from tickets as well as the coaching sessions will help support Open Social in 2025.
