Herrensauna’s run at BASEMENT has been one of the standout events for us over the last few years. The Berlin party is one of the definitive series of the decade, catalyzing a generation and reinventing techno as deviant art for beautiful perverts. This June, residents MCMLXXXV and Salome take the helm for Pride. There is no DJ quite like MCMLXXXV. Dialing up the bpms, he wrings out trancey melodies, hyper defined alien sound design, squelchy wobbles and moments of pure, blood-caked grit. It all braids around kinetic techno grooves that are bursting with life. Other artists hear MCMLXXV and wonder why they didn’t think of that. Salome’s ferocious electro and acid-laced techno is the dictionary definition of savage. Deftly maneuvered chaos and whiplash movements are the hallmarks of a Salome set. Across her residency for Herrensauna and international touring schedule, Salome has been a fearsome presence. Egyptian-born, NY-based Sabrout makes his debut. Dubby spaciousness meets potent, blinding intensity and expansive, aqueous depth. It all swims together in his teeming, hypnotic sets.
STUDIO resident Massimiliano Pagliara headlines. The maestro of modern house, Pagliara finds a way to make the hallmarks of the genre feel utterly contemporary. The way he’s able to reimagine the shimmering synths of italo, the big naughty low end of cosmic and the soulful keys of classic NY house places his work in a lineage of 21st century masters like Metro Area as well as the space disco artists of the mid ‘00s. But frankly that comparison only serves to underscore how much Pagliara stands on his own. His touch - both as a producer and DJ - is unmistakable. Manu Miran drives it home. The VISCERAL founder has made their presence unambiguously known since relocating to New York. Just as capable of slowing the tempo down to a sultry groove as they are of ramping it up to a feverish climax, Miran hits the ground running every time. ■ No photos or videos ■ Ticket purchase does not guarantee entrance ■ No phone use on the dancefloor ■ The dance floor is for dancing, not conversation ■ No glowing/flashing clothes or items ■ Respect other people's space, no shuffling ■ Consent is mandatory ■ Zero tolerance for racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, ableism or any form of discrimination ■ Take care of each other, alert our staff if somebody isn't feeling well ■ Violating the house rules will result in removal
