Fashionspeak Fridays: The Gilded Age

Fashionspeak Fridays: The Gilded Age

The American Gilded Age was a period of immense economic change, great conflict between the old ways and brand new systems, and huge fortunes made and lost. HBO's The Gilded Age follows a young woman who moves in with her old-money aunts and quickly gets entangled in the social war between them and their new-money neighbors. Join Kasia Walicka Maimone, costume designer of The Gilded Age, for a behind the scenes look at her process of capturing one of the most fascinating periods of New York fashion, as styles and trends began changing and progressing alongside New York City’s upper-crust. Kasia Walicka Maimone's recent credits include Netflix’s Zero Day and HBO's I Know This Much is True. Additional film and theater credits include Pale Blue Eye, The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, A Quiet Place Part 1 & 2, Moonrise Kingdom, Capote, Foxcatcher, Moneyball, Black Mass, Ready Player One, Bridge of Spies, Deepwater Horizon, and the Phillip Glass operas Les Enfants Terribles and The Sound of a Voice. Gilded Age Style is highly encouraged!
