Yoshiaki Shiraishi (1914–2001) invented the 回転寿司-Kaiten Zushi –Conveyor Belt Sushi- after staffs of his own sushi bar Asahi complained that sushi services was “too slow” and “unsatisfactory”. He invented the conveyor belt sushi at first with the hopes of a faster, more convenient way of dining, and it eventually became one of the most prestigious innovations in dining ever in Japan. (Now also known as くるくる寿司 kuru kuru sushi –Sushi Go Round-).
