Melbourne live music fans get a special preview of the iconic Port Fairy Folk Festival, with Troy Cassar-Daley and Melody Pool taking to the Hawthorn stage a night ahead of their journey down the Victorian coast for the March long weekend festival.
Troy Cassar-Daley is a proud Gumbaynggirr/Bundjalung man that hails from a long line of fireside storytellers. He is supported by the impactful and illusive Melody Pool.
Cassar-Daley will play from his songbook of 33 number one chart singles, along with numerous gold and platinum albums. As a true Country music journeyman, he stands as a luminary with a career that spans more than three decades and twelve studio albums.
As well as 45 Golden Guitars, 6 ARIA Awards, 4 CMAA Entertainer of the Year titles, 3 APRA Song of the Year awards, Cassar-Daley was honoured in 2017 as the 50th inductee into the prestigious Australasian Roll of Renown, solidifying his legacy as a guardian of Australia’s musical heritage.
Justin Rudge, Port Fairy Folk Festival Program Director confirmed the partnership, “Port Fairy Folk Festival is so excited to be collaborating with the City of Boroondara on two special shows ahead of our festival in March. The four artists playing across the two nights at Hawthorn Arts Centre and Kew Court House represent a great cross section of folk music in Australia right now, and I can’t wait for these events. Thank you to Boroondara Arts for the support of live music in the area”.
“Boroondara Arts is pleased to partner with the much-loved Port Fairy Folk Festival. As live music destinations, Hawthorn Arts Centre and Port Fairy Folk Festival have overlapping audiences. We also both share a strong commitment to staging transformative cultural experiences.” Sophie Torney, Boroondara Mayor
