Sustainability in Play: a pop-up playground

Sustainability in Play: a pop-up playground
24 September 2024
TUESDAY
10:30 a.m.

Join us in a pop-up playground where children can play, use their imagination, problem solve, interact and have fun. Play will be encouraged using loose parts that are nature based, recycled, second hand or found in the home. Think gumnuts, containers, sheets, boxes, pegs, and leaves etc to facilitate play. Pretend cooking and cubby making are some examples. This type of play is referred to free play or unstructured play. Children take the lead in play and the possible benefits to children can be less stress, increase their autonomy, skill building and creative problem solving. I’m curious to see what the children will create!

Aimed at preschoolers and primary school aged children, siblings welcome. This is play that minimises impact on the environment and in landfill. This is a joint adventure with the Environmental Education Team and Supported Playgroup.

Please note: All children are the responsibility of their caregivers/parents.

If a family is attending then tickets need to be booked for children only and not for accompanying adults.

Meeting Spot at the front of the visitor information centre. Toilet facilities and water drinking fountains are available. Please wear weather appropiate clothing.

If you book a ticket and are no longer able to attend please cancel so that it makes space available for others.
