This November we're kicking off the summer with two exciting "Cool Walks" in Sunshine and Footscray to bring our community together, share a free meal, and take an easy walk through the streets while sharing ideas to make our suburbs cooler for everyone.
Everyone is welcome! Join us for a relaxed walk through Footscray on Wednesday, November 6th, and Sunshine on Thursday, November 7th to map "hot spots" you want to see less off, as well as "cool spots" you'd like to see more of, followed by lunch on us at a nearby cafe.
You can choose either of them to come to (or both)
Footscray: Wednesday, November 6th, 12:00 PM - 2 PM
Meet at Footscray Train Station
Sunshine: Thursday, November 7th, 12:00 PM - 2 PM
Meet at Sunshine Train Station
All the data, photos, and stories we gather during the walks will be used to create a community map showing hot spots that need fixing and cool spots that you want to see more off. We’ll take this map directly to decision-makers to push for real changes in our suburbs, like adding more trees, shade, water bubblers.
By showing them on-the-ground evidence from our own communities, we can make a stronger case to our politicians for taking real action to create cooler, safer, and more liveable suburbs for everyone.
Everyone is welcome! You don’t need to be a mapping expert or live in Sunshine or Footscray. Whether you're taking photos, pinning hot spots on your phone, or just joining the walk, we'd love to see you there.
The walks won’t be longer than 30 minutes. The specific routes will be sent out closer to the event. If you have accessibility needs you'd like to discuss, please get in touch with Sophie at [email protected].
