Slow Rail Journey to the Tastes of the Goulburn Festival in Seymour

Slow Rail Journey to the Tastes of the Goulburn Festival in Seymour
26 April 2025
SATURDAY
10:45 a.m.
Join our annual steam-hauled single day Slow Rail Journey to Seymour, attending the renowned Tastes of the Goulburn Festival. Travel by heritage train from Melbourne to Seymour with ample time to enjoy the pre-eminent food and wine festival in one of the most productive regions of Australia.

Departing Melbourne, steam locomotive R 707 will work hard to pull a string of heritage carriages - many of which featured on some of Australia's most famous trains - through the northern suburbs before accelerating through Wallan toward the Great Dividing Range. Between Kilmore and Tallarook, relax in your comfortable seats as the train winds over the range before pulling into Seymour.

Accessing the festival from the train could not be more convenient - be met on the platform by representatives of the festival, which lies just steps from the platform.

Goulburn Valley’s favourite food and wine festival is hosted on Seymour's picturesque heritage-lined Station Street. Discover new products and flavours: sample gourmet produce and award-winning beer, cider, gin, spirits and wine. Meet producers and talk to winemakers. Be inspired by chef demonstrations. Learn how to use local ingredients in your home kitchen. And kickback to toe-tapping tunes all at Tastes of the Goulburn.

EAT: Sample farm-fresh produce, from cheese and cherries to pork and pistachios and indulge in delicious ready-to-eat food, hot coffee and more all from local, Goulburn Valley vendors.

DRINK: Take a tasting tour of the Goulburn Valley that starts with wine and continues with craft brews, botanical gins, and ciders made with the state’s very best apples and pears. All ready for you to sip, try and buy!

DISCOVER: Chat with local producers, be inspired to cook with local ingredients in your own kitchen at the Producer’s Kitchen stage, take home a unique piece of art or buy a bunch of locally-grown native flowers.

ENJOY: Tastes of the Goulburn is a day out for the whole family. Savour the sounds of live music at the entertainment stage and enjoy free activities to keep little adventurers happy and engaged at the Kids’ Corner.

Our train will arrive in Seymour in time for you to explore the festival for approximately four hours before returning to Melbourne.
