NAIDOC Week | The Little Long Walk At EF

NAIDOC Week | The Little Long Walk At EF
11 July 2024
THURSDAY
11 a.m.

This year’s theme chosen by the National NAIDOC Committee, is Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud & Proud.

The theme honours the enduring strength and vitality of First Nations culture, and a continued commitment to acknowledging, preserving, and sharing the cultural heritage that enriches our nation.

Essendon Fields respectfully acknowledges our traditional custodians the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people, and in partnership with The Long Walk Foundation, welcomes our community to walk with us in celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities on Thursday 11 July.

-

It’s been 20 years since AFL legend Michael Long left his home in Melbourne to walk 650 kilometers to Parliament House in Canberra, making a stand for Indigenous communities.

Two decades on, the Long Walk Foundation continue to Walk the Talk, raising money and awareness to support Indigenous education programs across the country.

Essendon Fields is proudly bringing a Little Long Walk back to Essendon Fields, strengthening our relationship to country, walking together in solidarity, and keeping the momentum going in the spirit of NAIDOC 2024.

Grab your family, friends or team together and join us for a walk around the precinct with a hot coffee sponsored by Dutton One Essendon Fields, followed by cultural presentations and a Charity BBQ hosted by LaManna Melbourne.

Through our collective efforts, lets help forge a future where the stories, traditions, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities are cherished and celebrated, enriching the fabric of the nation with the oldest living culture in the world.

All ticket proceeds to be donated to The Long Walk Foundation. Included in your ticket price will be a piece of exclusive event merchandise, a coffee sponsored by Dutton One Essendon Fields, one sausage in bread and one drink from LaManna’s Charity BBQ and a donation to The Long Walk Foundation.
