Coming Home: Suzie Miller in St Kilda
23 September 2024
MONDAY
7:30 p.m.

For one night only, internationally acclaimed Australian writer Suzie Miller will be chatting with local film maker Marianne Latham about her memories of growing up in Westbury Grove, East St Kilda, and her pathway to becoming a successful playwright. She will reflect on the uneasy pathway for women in local politics in the former City of St Kilda in the 1970s and the parallels for women today.

Suzie Miller is best known for her award-winning play Prima Facie, a searing portrayal of a young female barrister, brillant at defending men accused of sexual assault until she herself becomes the victim. Prima Facie premiered in Sydney in 2019, in London's West End in 2022 and then Broadway and Melbourne in 2023. Suzie's most recent play, RGB: Of Many, One, chronicles the wins and dissents of former US Supreme Court Judge Ruth Bader Ginsburg. It has just completed a sellout season in Melbourne and is now on the way to the US.

Suzie's personal tales, like her plays, offer compelling listening. It's bound to be an entertaining and memorable evening.

Suzie's recently released book, Prima Facie, drawn from her play, with be available for purchase on the night.
