To mark the World Health Organisation’s World Mental Health Day, we invite you to join us and hear from our panel, who will be sharing their insights into issues affecting womens mental health.

These will include the recent right to disconnect laws, how to identify and avoid burnout, ways to prioritise wellness and wellbeing, personally, and in your workplace or business.

The evening will also highlight the initiatives and achievements of Aitken Partners' Women's Group (APW), come and learn more about how APW is championing the growth and success of women in law.

We have three fantastic speakers with our own Nicole Jee facilitating:

Anushka Phal:
Anushka is a passionate psychologist driving advocacy and change for minority communities across Australia. Anushka is the founder of Umeed Psychology, a psychology private practice and social enterprise which aims to provide accessible, culturally informed mental health care. In an effort to de-stigmatise mental health and create better access to mental health care in multicultural communities, Anushka has developed SafeSpace, mental health literacy and International Student programs.

Anushka is a passionate advocate for youth mental health having previously worked as a school psychologist and having published research in this area. As an Ambassador for the Australia & New Zealand Mental Health Association Anushka strives to make a global impact when it comes to mental health. Anushka is also the co-founder for The Shore Project Podcast, founding member of Guardians of The Pacific (a charity which aims to support Fiji through poverty alleviation, education and individual welfare) and a co-author for "Undefeated" a Professional Migrant Women project. Anushka was a Finalist for the 2023 & 2024 Saward Dawson Young Achievers Award for Social Impact & Community Service, the winner of 2023 Westfield Local Heroes Award and 2023 inductee to the Victorian Honour Roll of Women.

Bianca Mazzarella:
Bianca is an employment lawyer and a member of our Litigation team. Her sharp expertise across all facets of employment and workplace relations law is complemented by a friendly disposition and commercial approach that have underpinned her ability to build long lasting client relationships.

Bianca is a passionate lawyer who is well versed in managing disputes in the employment and workplace health and safety arena. She enjoys defending and representing clients at conciliations in the Fair Work Commission, VEOHRC and the AHREOC and mediations in all federal and Victorian courts and tribunals. Bianca is a persuasive advocate who has the ability to provide strategic advice to clients focussing on their desired outcomes.

Mia Basic:
Mia Basic is the Co-Founder and Director of Equilibrium and Co-Founder of EQ.

Equilibrium is an integrated wellbeing program that supports businesses and their people. Mia founded Equilibrium to help businesses improve employee engagement, retention, productivity and culture. Through her experience as a lawyer, Mia recognised a gap in proactive, strategic and habitual wellbeing amongst professionals and created a solution; one that prioritises preventative wellbeing as the foundation for performance.

In addition to Equilibrium, Mia co-founded EQ, a preventative wellbeing retreat offering a three-hour wellbeing journey. EQ combines evidence-based practices such as light and sound therapy, breathwork, and hot and cold therapy, designed to help individuals de-stress and integrate these practices into their daily lives.

Together, Equilibrium and EQ provide comprehensive wellbeing tools that empower both individuals and businesses to navigate life's demands effectively.

Nicole Jee:
Nicole is chair of the Aitken Partners Women's group, Principal Lawyer and Head of Department - Litigation, and is an important member of our Asia Advisory team. Nicole assists clients at all stages of their disputes and deals with matters across the Victorian Courts and tribunals including the Magistrates' Court, County Court, Supreme Court, Court of Appeal and VCAT.

Nicole represents both individuals and companies across a range of industries. Nicole has been and continues to be involved with not-for-profit boards and advisory committees, including Youthlaw community legal centre, which assists vulnerable and marginalised young people.
