Stronghold is a bouldering wall that was built by keen climbing practitioners who wanted to deliver something great to the bouldering community. The idea behind Stronghold is to deliver a premium and purpose built bouldering experience where everything has been thoroughly thought out before building. The wall is the foundation of the business, and plenty of time, heated discussion and design went into its planning. But that’s just the start. The wall is the magnet that will attract climbers and those making their first steps into climbing, but we want everyone to have an experience - everywhere and everything in our space has been thought out to present our customers with something better. We even settled on a location that’s easily accessible by a well-lit walk on a dark winter afternoon! With sport climbing entering the Olympics in 2020 the training aspect of climbing is now being taken to new levels. Our training area has been designed in partnership with Jim Pope, local lad, GB Climbing Team Member, and National champion, to provide a space where keen ambitious climbers can push themselves as far as they wish to go. The area will serve as our commitment to the wider grassroots growth of bouldering. The main wall is the first in London built by Walltopia who are a world leader in climbing wall design and manufacture with over 2 million sq feet and 1500 projects under their belt across 50 countries. They truly are a world class wall manufacturer and perfectly in line with Stronghold’s vision of providing something spectacular and versatile for local and visiting climbers. In addition to the wall we felt there was also scope to fit a gym room with equipment and free weights for training and space for stretching. This will be a nice addition to the space as we grow the community around the building and facilities that help climbers to be the best they can be in fitness and flexibility. As a 14,800 sq ft. indoor and 8,000 sq ft. covered outdoor space, we can fit a lot in and we have big plans to grow. We will be holding climbing events, throwing parties and hosting local schools as well as plenty of other activities through a packed calendar.
