A pioneering new space to support local start-ups, creative and community organisations in Brixton Twitter.com/PopBrixton Instagram.com/PopBrixton Pop Brixton is a temporary project that has turned disused land into a creative space for local, independent businesses. Come and discover South London’s most exciting start-ups working in food, retail, design and social enterprise. Pop Brixton exists to support local jobs, training and enterprise. It is a community initiative that has transformed a disused plot of land into a pioneering space that showcases the most exciting independent businesses from Brixton and Lambeth, providing a new destination that supports them to set up shop and share space, skills and ideas. As well as providing the space local businesses need to thrive, we work with our members to make a positive difference in the community. We all invest our time and skills into charitable projects, we provide free space for community events of every kind, and we host regular open workshops ranging from kid's art classes to horticulture training in our community garden. This is a temporary project, delivered in partnership with Lambeth Council, and is currently planned to remain in place until Autumn 2018. Mission: Working with our tenants and the community, we want to transform the existing site into a multi-purpose space. Pop Brixton will be a distinct blend of enterprise and culture with a local focus. The units will become a platform for business, training and employment, as well as providing a new outdoor space for the local community to spend time. We believe this scheme will create a supportive and inclusive place for local people to share their knowledge and skills; creating jobs and business opportunities the whole community can benefit from. Pop Brixton is firmly rooted in its community, and with the support of our apprentices, designers, tenants and local residents, we aim to convey a sense of the diverse, vibrant and welcoming atmosphere of Brixton through this collaborative community campus.
