The Woodentops are an English rock/pop band formed in London, England in 1983. The band consists of lead singer/guitarist Rolo McGinty, bassist Simon Mawby, and drummer Benny Staples.
The Woodentops started as a four-piece band and released their first single, "Why Why Why", in 1984. The single was an immediate success, reaching number 15 in the UK charts. The band released two more singles before releasing their debut album, Giant, in 1985.
