The Story of Flip Fraser at The Shaw Theatre 25 October 2014

This year is 10 years since we lost Flip Fraser, on 31 August 2014. We are commemorating his memory with a theatrical event and evening of entertainment at The Shaw Theatre, Euston, London. This event is being held on his birthday 25th October, during Black History Month. The Shaw Theatre is where Flip launched ‘Black Heroes in the Hall of Fame’ in 1987. It is a great honour to return to this theatre to celebrate his memory and legacy.

The Story of Flip Fraser: A Windrush Story.

A Jamaican boy fights the struggles of the Windrush era, and with his lifelong mission, gives a Voice to Black Youth launching the Voice newspaper at the 1982 Notting Hill Carnival, and taking his iconic musical show ‘Black Heroes in Hall of Fame – 5,000 years of Black History in one night of theatre’ around the UK, the United States and to the Caribbean.

This production is a musical extravaganza, which tells the story of creative activist and Windrusher, Peter Randolph Fraser aka Flip Fraser, the first editor of the Voice Newspaper, and creator of the theatre production Black Heroes in the Hall of Fame. It chronicles his childhood in Jamaica, arrival in the UK, creative and community work in London; together with his impact on the Black Community.

His work inspired people, using the Arts and media for Education, Entertainment and Empowerment. Giving Black people a voice, recognising and celebrating the achievements and contributions of Black people to humanity and society. Telling the hidden stories, re-writing history, making people feel proud, inspired and motivated.

It is a love story. A story of heritage, passion, sorrow, love and loss.

This production preserves Flip Fraser’s legacy together with educating, entertaining and empowering its audiences.
