The Pioneers
The Pioneers are a Jamaican rock pop band, formed in the 1960s. They are considered to be one of the pioneers of the ska and rocksteady genres, and have been credited with popularizing these styles of music in the UK.
The band was initially formed in 1962 under the name The Renegades, but later changed their name to The Pioneers. The original lineup consisted of Sydney Crooks, Derrick Crooks, and Winston Hewitt. The band quickly found success in Jamaica, and their popularity eventually spread to the UK.
