The FA 'Faith and Football series' presents Vaisakhi 2024
Welcome to The FA 'Faith and Football series' Vaisakhi 2024 celebration!
Join us for a celebration of the Sikh festival of Vaisakhi at the iconic Wembley Stadium. The event will kick off on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at 5:00 PM BST. Immerse yourself in the rich cultural traditions of the Sikh community through music, special guest appearances, food, and more. Come together with fellow football fans and members of the Sikh community to celebrate unity and diversity. Don't miss out on this unique event that combines faith and football in a truly special way.
2023's Vaisakhi celebration featured over 600 Sikhs visit Wembley Stadium to witness the Ardaas and Chaupai Saahib recited for the first time ever at pitch-side.
The FA's aim is to:
- Engage with Sikhs across the country in an evening of interactive panels including professional players, coaches and off-the-pitch professionals from across the game with the aim to encourage more of the community to participate in football.
- Conduct an Ardaas pitch-side of Wembley’s hallowed turf for only the second time which all spectators will be able to participate in.
- Provide a full vegetarian meal for all attendees.
Dal Singh Darroch, The FA's Head of Diversity and Inclusion reiterates the importance of The FA's faith work: "Our faith events are always hugely successful. We know that communities connect with the game in many ways and faith is one such avenue. We're very proud to drive this work forward and the high volumes of people engaging with us at Wembley Stadium is testament to that. I look forward to marking Vaisakhi at the home of English football again this year with you all."
