The Blockheads
The Blockheads are a British rock and pop group that have been playing music together since the late 1970s. The group consists of original members, Ian Dury, Chaz Jankel and Norman Watt-Roy, as well as more recent members, John Turnbull and Mick Gallagher.
Formed in 1977, The Blockheads are best known for their hit single, “Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick”, which reached number one in the UK Singles Chart in 1979. The band’s music is a blend of punk, reggae, ska and jazz, and they have recorded and released a string of critically acclaimed albums over the years.
The Blockheads have continued to tour and record throughout their career, and have recently released their ninth studio album, “The Blockheads Live at the BBC”.
